This one's a little older, but a few of our customers feed Steve's Real Food, and we special-order the Chicken Recipe for some of you. So if a bag has been sitting in the back of your freezer or pantry, please take a peek.
What was recalled
In June 2026, Go Raw LLC expanded a recall to include one lot of Steve's Real Food Chicken Recipe Freeze Dried:
- Size: 1.25 lb bag
- Lot code: C26022
- Best by: January 22, 2028
The reason is possibly low levels of thiamine, which is vitamin B1. Dogs and cats need thiamine every day, and a food that's short on it over a long stretch can cause problems that start with a pet not wanting to eat and can go as far as serious neurological trouble. The company said it recalled the lot out of caution and that it was already out of distribution. This followed an earlier recall in February 2026 of some chicken-based Quest Cat Food products for the same concern.
What to do
- Check the lot code and best-by date on your bag. If it doesn't say C26022, you're fine.
- If it does, stop feeding it and set it aside.
- If your dog or cat has been eating it and seems off (not eating, acting tired, wobbly or just not themselves), call your vet and tell them about the food.

What about the other Steve's recipes?
