Stella & Chewy's Remarkable Red Meat Beef, Goat & Lamb Freeze-Dried Raw Dinner Patties
We've written up every Stella & Chewy's freeze-dried patty on this site, and on each one we've had to tell you the same thing: Stella doesn't publish an AAFCO nutritional adequacy statement, so we can't tell you what life stage it's approved for.
This is the exception.
The only one with the statement printed
Stella publishes it in full for this recipe, word for word:
Remarkable Red Meat Recipe Dinner Patties is formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by the AAFCO Dog Food Nutrient Profiles for All Life Stages including growth of large size dogs (70 lbs. or more as an adult).
That's the strongest adequacy statement a dog food can carry, and it is worth understanding why.
All Life Stages means it's formulated for puppies, adults and seniors from the same bag. No switching foods as your dog grows.
Including growth of large size dogs is the harder part and most foods don't claim it. A large-breed puppy needs tightly controlled calcium while its skeleton is forming... too much is a genuine problem, not a theoretical one. A food has to be formulated specifically for that to make the claim. If you have a Lab, a Shepherd, a Dane or any puppy heading past 70 lbs, this is the Stella freeze-dried patty for you, and as far as their published labels go, the only one.
Talk to your vet about feeding a large-breed puppy whatever you choose. But this is the bag that can have that conversation.
What's in it
Beef, beef kidney, beef liver, grass-fed goat, grass-fed lamb, beef bone. Three red meats and four beef components before anything else appears. Stella puts the recipe at 95% red meat, nutrient-rich organs and bone.
Goat is genuinely uncommon, and here it sits fourth, ahead of the lamb and well up the list rather than tucked behind a binder. If you've been looking for goat as a less-common protein, this is a real amount of it.
Then pumpkin seed, organic cranberries, spinach, broccoli, beets, carrots, squash and blueberries. Fenugreek seed, kelp, a full vitamin and mineral package, added taurine.
Pea-free, lentil-free and potato-free, and the printed list backs that up... none of the three appears anywhere in it.
Three things we noticed reading the label closely
There is salmon oil in it. It sits near the end of the list, but it's a fourth animal species and the product name doesn't mention fish. If you're avoiding fish, that matters and nothing on the front of the bag tells you.
Goat outranks lamb, though the bullet reverses them. Stella's own description says "beef, lamb and goat." Their ingredient panel says goat fourth, lamb fifth. We go by the panel.
"Grass-fed" applies to the goat and the lamb, not the beef. The bullet reads "raw, grass-fed beef, lamb and goat," but on the ingredient panel only Grass-Fed Goat and Grass-Fed Lamb carry that qualifier. The beef, beef kidney, beef liver and beef bone are listed plain. Stella's Super Beef recipe does describe its beef as grass-fed; this one doesn't, on the panel.
None of these makes it a worse food. We mention them because we read these lists line by line and we'd rather hand you what we found than the marketing version.
Where it sits on richness
39% protein, 38% fat, 55 calories a patty at 4,940 kcal/kg.
| Freeze-dried patty recipe | Protein | Fat | kcal/kg | kcal/patty |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chewy's Chicken | 48% | 28% | 4,420 | 60 |
| Absolutely Rabbit | 46% | 32% | 4,780 | 53 |
| Stella's Super Beef | 41% | 35% | 4,940 | 56 |
| Tantalizing Turkey | 40% | 36% | 5,100 | 58 |
| Remarkable Red Meat | 39% | 38% | 4,940 | 55 |
| Surf 'N Turf | 45% | 34% | 5,140 | 58 |
| Dandy Lamb | 38% | 38% | 5,270 | 59 |
| Duck Duck Goose | 38% | 38% | 5,370 | 60 |
Something worth catching: this recipe runs the same 38% fat as Dandy Lamb and Duck Duck Goose, but 330 to 430 fewer calories per kilogram. Fat percentage on its own doesn't tell you calorie density, which is why we print both on every page.
It's still a rich food. A dog with a pancreatitis history, or one on a vet-prescribed low-fat diet, needs that vet's view first... Stella's chicken recipe is the lean one at 28% fat.
The probiotics, named
Four fermentation products in the list: Pediococcus acidilactici, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium longum and Bacillus coagulans. Stella publishes no CFU count for this product, so we can't give you one.

Feeding guidelines
Stella's published amounts for adult dogs, patties per day, split across two meals.
| Your dog's weight | Patties per day |
|---|---|
| 5 lb | 2½ |
| 10 lb | 4 |
| 15 lb | 5 |
| 20 lb | 6½ |
| 40 lb | 11 |
| 60 lb | 15 |
| 80 lb | 18½ |
| 100 lb | 22 |
Stella's chart jumps from 20 lb straight to 40 lb with nothing between, so for a 25 or 30 lb dog read between those rows... or use the calculator above, which does it for you.
Stella adds that puppies may need up to twice the adult amount, and to check with a veterinarian for pregnant and nursing dogs, since requirements vary with the number of puppies and the stage of lactation. Every chart is a starting point... check body condition after two or three weeks and adjust.
How to serve it
Straight from the bag or rehydrated with warm water. Stella suggests bone broth as the liquid if you want to go further, and we carry their Bountiful Bone Broth.
Shelf-stable, no refrigeration needed.
Switching over
Stella's guidance: introduce gradually over seven to ten days, mixing with the current food and shifting the ratio. They note sudden diet changes and overfeeding can both cause digestive upset. At 38% fat, take the slow route.
Sizes
Stella makes this in 5.5 oz and 14 oz. We stock the 14 oz... if you'd like the smaller bag to try it first, ask and we'll get it in.
