Stella & Chewy's Chewy's Chicken Meal Mixers
Two useful facts about this bag, and neither is on the label. It is the leanest Meal Mixer Stella makes, and it is the same recipe as their Chewy's Chicken Dinner Patties.
Same food as the patties
We read both of Stella's product pages side by side. The ingredient list is identical in the same order. The guaranteed analysis matches on every single value, 48% protein and 28% fat. Calorie density is within 20 kcal/kg.
They are the same recipe in two shapes. The difference is the feeding chart and how you use it, not the food. If you're buying both bags thinking one is richer or lighter, you can stop... pick the format that suits how you feed and save the money.
One labeling difference worth stating precisely: the patties carry Stella's "100% complete and balanced" description and the Meal Mixers don't. The Mixers chart does still offer a full-meal column alongside the topper column, and we've printed both below. That's exactly what Stella publishes and we won't read more into it than that.
The leanest in the line, by a margin
48% protein against 28% fat. Here's the whole Meal Mixers line:

Highest protein, lowest fat, fewest calories per scoop. If you're using a topper on a dog that's an easy keeper or carrying a few extra pounds, this is the one in the line that does the least damage to the calorie budget... 50 kcal a quarter cup against 62 for the Surf 'N Turf, a 24% difference from the same scoop.
It's also why the full-meal amounts on this recipe are the largest in the line. A 100 lb dog eats 5 cups of this a day as a complete meal, against 4¼ cups of the lamb. Less dense food, more of it. A bag of this one does not go as far.
What's in it
Chicken with ground bone, chicken liver, chicken gizzard. Stella puts it at 95% cage-free chicken, nutrient-rich organs and bone, raw.
The organ group here is liver and gizzard, which is genuinely shorter than their Super Beef recipe's five-part list. Not better or worse... a different food, and worth knowing if organ content is why you buy raw.
Then pumpkin seed, organic cranberries, spinach, broccoli, beets, carrots, squash and blueberries. Fenugreek seed, kelp, a full vitamin and mineral package, added taurine.
Pea-free, lentil-free and potato-free, as published for this recipe. Read that carefully if you've been steering around those... it's true here and it is not true of every Stella & Chewy's product.
The probiotics, named
Four fermentation products in the list: Pediococcus acidilactici, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium longum and Bacillus coagulans.

Stella publishes two charts. Cups below mean a level standard 8-fluid-ounce dry measuring cup.
As a mixer or topper, on top of your dog's regular food:

Stella notes puppies may need up to twice the adult amount, and to consult a veterinarian for pregnant and nursing dogs. Split the daily amount across two meals and adjust to your dog's body condition after two or three weeks.
If you're using it as a topper on a daily basis, take those calories off the dinner underneath it. A quarter cup on a 15 lb dog is a real addition, not a rounding error.
How to use it
Crumble over the bowl dry, or rehydrate with warm water first, which brings out the smell and tends to work on a fussy eater. Stella suggests bone broth as the liquid if you want to go further, and we carry their Bountiful Bone Broth.

On the label statement
Stella & Chewy's does not publish an AAFCO nutritional adequacy statement or a life stage for this product, and unlike the patties they don't describe it as complete and balanced.
