The Petmate Vari Kennel is an all-purpose plastic kennel for housebreaking, kennel training and travel, and it is built very differently from the thin-walled bargain kennels it gets compared to. The body is molded from Petmate's EcoTEC plastic, and the shell halves join with spiral wing nuts and bolts that tighten by hand, no tools needed.
The door is metal, not plastic, with an easy-open squeeze latch, and it has tamper-proof holes so you can zip-tie it shut for air travel. Vents on the back and side walls give 360 degree airflow, and an interior moat helps keep your pet dry. The kennel meets most airline requirements; always confirm with your airline before you fly.

Built Right: Why the Kennel You Choose Matters
A travel kennel has one job: keep your pet safe and contained, even when it is bumped, stacked or loaded by strangers. That is where cheap kennels fail, at plastic doors, weak latches and shells held together with clips. The Vari Kennel answers each of those weak points with a metal door, a squeeze latch and through-bolted wing nut hardware. Petmate backs it with a one-year limited warranty.
The Giant 48 in size is Petmate's Ultra Vari Kennel model for dogs 90 to 125 lb, with heavy-duty hardware, metal side vents and strap holes for securing it for air travel.
Sizing
Choose a kennel about 3 to 4 inches taller and longer than your pet. Measure from the top of the head to the floor, and from the nose to the base of the tail. A kennel that is too large may encourage toileting inside.
