Know Before You Buy
- Animal proteins in this recipe: Pollock, beef (beef, beef spleen, beef liver, beef kidney), salmon oil.

FreshDried Patés Surf & Turf pairs wild-caught pollock with beef, freeze-dried raw so you can stir it into a fresh pâté with water or broth in about a minute. It's Instinct's pantry-friendly take on wet food... no canning heat, and you set the texture.
What's actually in it
Pollock is the first ingredient, then beef, beef spleen, beef liver and beef kidney, so the protein is fish and beef with no poultry at all. Ground flaxseed and salmon oil add omega fatty acids, and ground miscanthus grass adds fiber. Carrots, apples, butternut squash, blueberries and spinach make up the produce, with lactic acid, yeast culture, vitamins, minerals and taurine completing it. There are no peas, potatoes or grains.
Who it suits, and who it doesn't
It suits a healthy adult cat that loves both fish and meat, and especially a cat whose family is avoiding chicken, since there is no chicken, turkey or other poultry on the list.

Calorie content
Calorie content (calculated): ME = 4,754 kcal/kg ... 214 kcal per cup. A cup means a standard 8-fluid-ounce dry measuring cup, filled level, measured before you add water. It measures volume, not 8 ounces by weight, so scoop it rather than weigh it.
Feeding guidelines
Instinct's published daily amounts for adult cats, in cups of dry food per day, with the water or broth to mix in. Instinct's guidance is to mix ⅓ cup water or broth for every 1 cup dry food, adjusting based on your pet's preference.

These are starting points, not prescriptions. Ideal amounts depend on age, weight and activity level. Split the day's amount into meals, mix each one fresh, and pick up anything left after 2 hours. Check your cat's body condition after two or three weeks... ribs easy to feel under a thin layer, a waist visible from above... and adjust. Always keep fresh water out.
Switching over
Instinct's advice for cats new to raw: introduce raw over a period of 5 to 7 days, mixing increasing amounts of raw while decreasing current food. Going slowly gives your cat's stomach time to adjust.
Sizes, and how many cups you get
3 oz and 13 oz bags, which hold roughly 2 and 8 level cups of dry food before you add water. For a 10 lb adult cat eating 1¼ cups a day on maintenance, that's a day or two from the small bag and about 6 days from the large one. Cup counts are worked out from Instinct's published calorie figures and are close estimates.
Storage
Keep the bag sealed tight and somewhere cool and dry between meals. Once you add water or broth, serve it right away and discard any leftovers after 2 hours. Wash hands, bowls and utensils after handling, as you would with any raw meat.
