Know Before You Buy
- Animal proteins in this recipe: Fish (fish broth, tuna, menhaden fish oil), pork (pork, pork liver), egg product.
- Contains: Fish (tuna, fish broth, menhaden fish oil) ... Pork ... Egg ... Peas (dried ground peas) ... Flaxseed.
- Does not contain: Grain, potato, corn, wheat, soy, carrageenan, chicken, beef or lamb (per the manufacturer's ingredient list).
- Tuna plus pork. Pork and pork liver are the third and fourth ingredients, so this is not an all-fish can. The broth is listed only as "fish broth".

Flaked Tuna is the can for the cat who comes running at the sound of a tuna tin... flaked cuts of tuna in a savory gravy, in a 3 oz can. Instinct makes it grain-free and complete and balanced for all life stages.
What's actually in it
Fish broth and tuna come first, followed by pork and pork liver, then egg product. Spinach, dried ground peas and carrots come next, with tomato, pumpkin, broccoli, cranberries, blueberries, kale and parsley further down. Menhaden fish oil and ground flaxseed add omega fatty acids, and guar, cassia and xanthan gums thicken the gravy. There is no carrageenan, and no chicken on the list.
Who it suits, and who it doesn't
It suits a healthy cat of any age that loves fish, and a family looking for a chicken-free flaked can to rotate in.

Feeding guidelines
Instinct's published daily amount for adult cats:

Instinct adds: "Ideal feeding amounts depend on age, weight, and activity level. Refrigerate any unused portion. Your cat should always have access to clean fresh water."
Think of this as a starting point. Kittens, and cats that are pregnant or nursing, usually need more, and if you also feed dry food, cut back the cans to match. Check your cat's body condition after two or three weeks... ribs easy to feel under a thin layer, a waist visible from above... and adjust. Always keep fresh water out.
Switching over
Change foods gradually over about a week. Start with roughly a quarter Flaked Tuna Entrée mixed into the old food, move to half, then three quarters, then all Flaked Tuna Entrée. Going slowly gives your cat's stomach time to adjust.
Sizes, and how long a case lasts
We carry single 3 oz cans and cases of 24. Following Instinct's guide of 2¾ to 3¼ cans per day for a cat in the 6 to 8 lb range, a case of 24 lasts about 7 to 8 days. Cats eating some dry food alongside will make a case last longer.
Storage
Store unopened cans somewhere cool and dry. Instinct recommends feeding at room temperature and refrigerating any unused portion. Cover the opened can and use it within a few days.
