Fromm Nutritionals Mobility Functional Dog Treats
Know Before You Buy
- A treat, not a meal. Fromm states that this treat is intended to be fed in moderation and is not a complete diet.
- Animal proteins in this recipe: Chicken (chicken bone broth, chicken collagen, chicken cartilage), cheese, egg (dried egg product, egg shell meal), New Zealand green mussels.
- Contains: Chicken ... Dairy (cheese) ... Egg ... Shellfish (New Zealand green mussels) ... Grains (white rice, brown rice).
- Does not contain: Beef, pork, fish, corn, wheat, soy, peas, lentils or potatoes (per the manufacturer's ingredient list).
- Contains shellfish and chicken. New Zealand green mussels and three chicken ingredients are in this treat, even though neither is in the name.
- Life stage: Fromm describes these as suitable for dogs of all breeds and ages. As a treat, it is not formulated as a complete diet for any life stage.
Mobility treats are part of Fromm's Nutritionals line, made by Fromm Family Foods, the family-owned company in Mequon, Wisconsin. Fromm designed these crunchy treats with omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants to support joint mobility and flexibility... a reward that pairs nicely with a dog's daily walk.
What's actually in it
The base is white rice, brown rice and tapioca starch, flavored with chicken bone broth, cheese and a little hickory smoke. The joint-focused ingredients are the reason this treat exists: chicken collagen, chicken cartilage, egg shell meal, glucosamine hydrochloride, chondroitin sulfate and New Zealand green mussels, which Fromm includes to support joint health. Fromm guarantees minimum levels of glucosamine and chondroitin on the label (see the analysis below).
Who it suits, and who it doesn't
It suits an adult or senior dog whose family wants a joint-minded treat, and dogs who do well on rice. It isn't the right choice for a dog avoiding chicken, dairy, egg or shellfish. These are treats, not medicine, and a dog with a diagnosed health condition should be fed under a veterinarian's guidance.
