Fromm Nutritionals Immunity Functional Dog Treats
Know Before You Buy
- A treat, not a meal. Fromm states that this treat is intended to be fed in moderation and is not a complete diet.
- Animal proteins in this recipe: Salmon, salmon oil, egg (dried egg product), gelatin.
- Contains: Fish (salmon, salmon oil) ... Egg ... Grains (white rice, brown rice) ... Flaxseed.
- Does not contain: Chicken, beef, pork, dairy, corn, wheat, soy, peas, lentils or potatoes (per the manufacturer's ingredient list).
- Gelatin's animal source isn't named. No chicken, beef or pork appears on the list, but Fromm doesn't say what the gelatin is made from, so a dog on a strict elimination diet should check with your veterinarian first.
- Life stage: Fromm describes these as suitable for dogs of all breeds and ages. As a treat, it is not formulated as a complete diet for any life stage.
Immunity treats are part of Fromm's Nutritionals line, made by Fromm Family Foods, the family-owned company in Mequon, Wisconsin. Fromm formulated these crunchy treats with cranberries, blueberries, carrots, turmeric, vitamin E, cinnamon and vitamin C to support a healthy immune system.
What's actually in it
Rice and tapioca starch make up the base, with salmon as the main protein and dried egg product alongside it. Cranberries, blueberries and carrots add color and flavor, and salmon oil and flaxseed add omega fatty acids. Turmeric, cinnamon, vitamin E and vitamin C round it out, which Fromm includes to support the immune system. Citric acid is used as a preservative.
Who it suits, and who it doesn't
It suits a dog who likes fish and a crunchy bite, and families who want a treat without chicken on the ingredient list. It isn't the right pick for a dog avoiding fish or egg. These are treats, not medicine, and a dog with a diagnosed health condition should be fed under a veterinarian's guidance.
