Dr. Marty Nature's Feast Poultry Freeze-Dried Raw Cat Food
Four birds and nothing else: turkey, duck, goose and quail, plus turkey liver. No beef, no fish, no chicken, no egg, no dairy and no pea ingredient.
The missing fish is the interesting part. Most cat food is built on fish or chicken, which is exactly why so many cats end up reacting to one or the other... a protein stops being novel once a cat has eaten it for nine years. A poultry blend with no fish and no chicken in it is a genuinely different starting point.
Something worth knowing about this line
Nature's Feast shares its ingredient list with Dr. Marty's dog foods. This recipe is the same list as Nature's Blend Sensitivity Select for dogs, and the Beef, Salmon & Poultry cat food matches Essential Wellness.
That sounds alarming and isn't. We checked all four packages. The guaranteed analyses differ between the cat and dog versions, and both cat bags carry proper AAFCO Cat Food Nutrient Profile statements, which is the thing that matters. Cats have requirements dogs don't, taurine above all, and a food cannot carry a cat adequacy statement without meeting them. So the shared ingredient list is a manufacturing decision, not a corner being cut.
One straight answer while we're here: this bag does not print a taurine figure in its guaranteed analysis. Plenty of cat foods do and it is reassuring to see. What covers it is the AAFCO cat adult maintenance statement, which a food cannot make unless its taurine level meets the profile. If you'd rather see the number than trust the statement, that's a fair position, and we'd point you at a brand that prints it.
What's in it
Turkey, duck, goose and quail lead, then turkey liver. Organ meat sits high deliberately... liver is one of the densest natural sources of vitamin A and B12 there is, and cats are strict carnivores who are built to get those from meat rather than plants. After that, flaxseed, sweet potato, spinach, pumpkin seed, then cranberry, blueberry, apple and carrot, finished with ginger, kelp, sunflower seed, broccoli and kale. Mixed tocopherols, a natural vitamin E, are the only preservative. No corn, wheat, soy or added grain.

AAFCO statement
Formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by the AAFCO Cat Food Nutrient Profiles for adult maintenance. This is a complete diet for an adult cat, not a topper, and not a kitten food.
Calorie content
5,273 kcal/kg ... 227 kcal per cup. A cup means a standard 8-fluid-ounce dry measuring cup, filled level, holding about 43 grams. It does not hold 8 ounces by weight.
Feeding guidelines
Dr. Marty's published amounts, dry and before water. Cats generally do better on several small meals than one large one, so split it across at least two.
| Your cat's weight | Daily amount |
|---|---|
| 5 lb | ⅔ cup |
| 7 lb | 1 cup |
| 10 lb | 1⅛ cups |
| 12 lb | 1⅓ cups |
| 15 lb | 1½ cups |
| 17 lb | 1¾ cups |
| 20 lb | 2 cups |
Dr. Marty's own note with the chart: these are guidelines, and the amount should be adjusted for your cat's age, activity level and weight.
One caution that matters more for cats than dogs. Never crash-diet an overweight cat. A cat that stops eating, or has its food cut sharply, can develop serious liver problems within days. If your cat needs to lose weight, do it slowly and with your vet involved.
How to rehydrate
Warm water at two parts food to one part water, let it stand three minutes, then stir. Cats are fussier than dogs about temperature and texture, so it is worth experimenting... some prefer it barely moistened, others want it closer to a pate. Always leave fresh drinking water out, and more so with a cat, since cats are poor drinkers by nature.
The food is raw and uncooked. Handle it like raw meat, wash hands and bowl afterwards, and don't leave a made-up portion sitting out.
Switching over
Take longer than you would with a dog. Cats form strong attachments to one texture and can refuse a new food outright, and a cat that stops eating is a genuine problem rather than an inconvenience. Two weeks is reasonable, starting with a spoonful mixed in and building slowly. If your cat simply refuses, stop and talk to us rather than waiting it out.
Sizes, and how many cups you get
5.5 oz and 12 oz, roughly 3½ and 8 level cups. For a 10 lb cat eating about 1⅛ cups a day, that is roughly three days and seven days.
Storage
Seal it fully after each use, cool and dry. Dr. Marty puts an opened bag at up to three months, shortened by heat and humidity.
