Here is the thing worth knowing before you choose between this bag and the regular one, and it will save you some deliberating: Small Breed is the same food as Essential Wellness. Because piece size genuinely matters to a small dog. A 9 lb terrier working through nuggets built for a Labrador either bolts them whole or gives up, and a dog that gives up on its food is the whole problem. One useful detail: at the weights where both charts overlap, the amounts are identical. A 10 lb dog eats three quarters of a cup on either bag. You are not changing the diet, only the shape of it.
What's in it
Turkey, beef, salmon and duck lead, then beef liver, turkey liver and turkey heart. Organ meat sits high deliberately... liver is one of the densest natural sources of vitamin A, copper and B12 there is. After that, flaxseed, sweet potato, egg, then apple, blueberry, carrot, cranberry, pumpkin seed, spinach, kelp, ginger, sunflower seed, broccoli and kale. Mixed tocopherols, a natural vitamin E, are the only preservative. No corn, wheat, soy or added grain.
At 40% protein and 33% fat this is a rich food. That is worth knowing for a small dog in particular, because small dogs are easy to overfeed by a quarter cup without noticing. A dog with a pancreatitis history, or one on a low-fat diet, needs a vet's view before switching.

Calorie content
4,990 kcal/kg ... 256 kcal per cup. A cup means a standard 8-fluid-ounce dry measuring cup, filled level, which holds about 51 grams of this food. It does not hold 8 ounces by weight, so measure by volume and not on a scale.
Feeding guidelines
Dr. Marty's published amounts, dry and before water, split across two meals.

Starting points, not prescriptions. Two 15 lb dogs can differ by a third in what they actually need. Check body condition after a fortnight... ribs findable under a thin covering, a waist visible from above... and adjust. Ask your vet if you're unsure.
How to rehydrate
Warm water at two parts food to one part water, three minutes, then stir. This food is raw and uncooked, so handle it like raw meat: wash hands and bowl after, and don't leave a made-up portion sitting out.
Switching over
Ten days. 25% of the new food on days one to three, 50% on four to six, 75% on seven to nine, all of it from day ten. Worth sticking to here, because 33% fat is a step up from most dry foods.
Sizes, and how many cups you get
6 oz, 16 oz, 48 oz and 80 oz, which come out to roughly 3⅓, 8¾, 26½ and 44 level cups. For a 15 lb dog eating a cup a day, that is about three days, nine days, a month, and six weeks respectively.
Storage
Seal it fully after each use, cool and dry. Dr. Marty puts an opened bag at up to three months, shortened by heat and humidity.
