Stella & Chewy's Wild Weenies Grain Free Duck Recipe Freeze-Dried Dog Treats
One thing first, because it decides whether this is the right bag for your dog: the second ingredient is turkey liver, not duck liver.
The full list is four items long
- Cage-Free Duck
- Turkey Liver
- Sodium Alginate (the binder)
- Mixed Tocopherols (preservative)
Stella's own bullet reads 97% duck and organs. The duck part is accurate. The organ part is turkey.
We're leading with this because of who reaches for a duck treat. If your dog reacted to a turkey food and you picked this up to get away from turkey, this is not the bag. If you're running an elimination diet with your vet, same answer... this is a two-species treat and only one species is on the front.
Which recipes in this line are one species, and which aren't
The names won't tell you, so we read all seven lists:
| Wild Weenies recipe | Species actually in the list |
|---|---|
| Beef | beef only |
| Chicken | chicken only |
| Lamb | lamb only |
| Bac'n Me Crazy | pork and beef, both named on the bag |
| Duck | duck, plus turkey liver |
| Red Meat | beef, goat, lamb |
| Game Bird | turkey, duck, quail |
Three of the seven are genuinely single-species. If you need one, the lamb recipe is the novel-protein option; beef and chicken are clean lists too, but they're the proteins most dogs have already been eating.
If you want duck specifically with no turkey in it, come and talk to us... we'll go through what else on the shelf actually qualifies, because Stella's Game Bird recipe doesn't either.
For a dog that eats poultry without trouble, none of this matters. It's a good treat and dogs like it. Just buy it knowing what's in it.
It's also among the richest of the seven
38% protein, 37% fat, 15 calories a treat at 4,937 kcal/kg.
| Wild Weenies recipe | Protein | Fat | kcal/treat |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chicken | 40% | 26% | 13 |
| Beef | 40% | 31% | 14 |
| Red Meat | 40% | 32% | 14 |
| Bac'n Me Crazy | 38% | 34% | 14 |
| Lamb | 37% | 36.94% | 15 |
| Duck | 38% | 37% | 15 |
| Game Bird | 38% | 37% | 15 |
37% fat against 26% for the chicken recipe. If your dog is on a low-fat diet or has a pancreatitis history, ask your vet before this one, and know that the chicken Wild Weenies are the leaner choice at 13 calories a treat.
Richer treats are also more motivating, which is the honest flip side. If you need something that cuts through distraction, this does it better than a lean treat will.
About the sodium alginate
A binder derived from seaweed, present in all seven Wild Weenies recipes. It's what gives these their shape and chew instead of being a crumbly chunk of meat.
Its position matters for reading the label: anything listed after it is present in a smaller amount than the binder. In this recipe nothing animal-derived falls after it, which is more than can be said for the Game Bird and Red Meat versions.
Full ingredient list
Cage-Free Duck, Turkey Liver, Sodium Alginate, Mixed Tocopherols (preservative).
Reproduced exactly as Stella & Chewy's publishes it. Four ingredients, and we've named every one.

How many to give
Stella publishes no treat count and no dog-size guidance for Wild Weenies. The general rule is to keep treats to around 10% of daily calories, and the published per-treat figure makes that easy to work with here... ten of these is 150 calories, which is most of a small dog's treat allowance for the day. Your vet can tell you your dog's daily number.
Also on the label
Grain free, with no corn, wheat or soy. Stella doesn't print a pea-free, lentil-free or potato-free statement on any Wild Weenies recipe the way they do on their patties... what we can tell you is that none of those three appears anywhere in this four-item list.
Storage and serving
Shelf-stable, no refrigeration needed. Break pieces down for a small dog and give with fresh water nearby. Supervise, as with any treat.
On the label statement
Stella publishes no AAFCO statement for this product, and no "for intermittent or supplemental feeding only" line, which is what you'd normally expect on a treat. Its absence doesn't make it a complete food. Ask us if you want it confirmed off the bag.
