Stella & Chewy's Wild Weenies Grain Free Chicken Recipe Freeze-Dried Dog Treats
If you hand out a lot of treats, this is the Wild Weenies recipe to buy. 26% fat and 13 calories a treat, both the lowest of the seven, on a four-item ingredient list.
The lean one, and it isn't close
| Wild Weenies recipe | Protein | Fat | kcal/treat | kcal/kg |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chicken | 40% | 26% | 13 | 4,165 |
| Beef | 40% | 31% | 14 | 4,561 |
| Red Meat | 40% | 32% | 14 | 4,625 |
| Bac'n Me Crazy | 38% | 34% | 14 | 4,760 |
| Lamb | 37% | 36.94% | 15 | 4,917 |
| Duck | 38% | 37% | 15 | 4,937 |
| Game Bird | 38% | 37% | 15 | 5,084 |
26% fat against 37% for the duck and Game Bird recipes. Highest protein in the line alongside the beef and Red Meat, and the fewest calories per treat.
That combination is what makes it the training treat. Ten of these is 130 calories where ten Game Bird is 150, and across a long session that gap adds up. If your dog is on a low-fat diet, has a pancreatitis history, or is losing weight on purpose, this is the one in the range to ask your vet about.
A clean list, which isn't true across this line
- Cage-Free Chicken
- Chicken Liver
- Sodium Alginate (the binder)
- Mixed Tocopherols (preservative)
Chicken is the only animal species in it, and nothing animal-derived sits behind the binder.
Worth knowing because the names in this line don't tell you. We read all seven lists:
| Wild Weenies recipe | Species actually in the list |
|---|---|
| Chicken | chicken only |
| Beef | beef only |
| Lamb | lamb only |
| Bac'n Me Crazy | pork and beef, both named on the bag |
| Duck | duck, plus turkey liver |
| Red Meat | beef, goat, lamb |
| Game Bird | turkey, duck, quail |
Three of the seven are genuinely one species. The Bac'n Me Crazy recipe has two but says so plainly. The remaining three don't, and their names won't warn you. If you're on an elimination diet, chicken is of course the protein most dogs have already had the most of... the lamb recipe is the single-species novel protein if that's what you need.
One small contradiction on Stella's own page
Their visible bullet for this recipe says 96% chicken and organs. The page's own metadata says 97% muscle meat and organs.
Every other Wild Weenies recipe says 97%, so this is the only one where the two numbers disagree. It's a one-point difference and it changes nothing practical, but we'd rather tell you we found it than quietly print the higher figure. We've gone with 96%, which is what the page actually displays.
About the sodium alginate
A binder derived from seaweed, present in all seven Wild Weenies recipes. It's what gives these their shape and chew instead of being a crumbly chunk of meat.
Its position is how you read these labels: anything after it is present in a smaller amount than the binder. Nothing animal falls after it here.

How many to give
Stella publishes no treat count and no dog-size guidance for Wild Weenies. The general rule is to keep treats to around 10% of daily calories, and the published per-treat figure makes that easy here... ten of these is 130 calories. Your vet can tell you your dog's daily number.
Also on the label
Grain free, with no corn, wheat or soy. Stella doesn't print a pea-free, lentil-free or potato-free statement on any Wild Weenies recipe the way they do on their patties... what we can tell you is that none of those three appears anywhere in this four-item list.
Sizes
3.25 oz and 11.5 oz. The chicken and beef recipes are the two Stella currently publishes sizes for, and both offer the larger bag... worth knowing if this becomes your everyday training treat.
Storage and serving
Shelf-stable, no refrigeration needed. Break pieces down for a small dog and give with fresh water nearby. Supervise, as with any treat.
On the label statement
Stella publishes no AAFCO statement for this product, and no "for intermittent or supplemental feeding only" line, which is what you'd normally expect on a treat. Its absence doesn't make it a complete food. Ask us if you want it confirmed off the bag.
