Stella & Chewy's Duck Duck Goose Meal Mixers
Before anything else: turkey is the second ingredient, and there is more turkey in this recipe than goose.
Read the list, not the name
The first six ingredients, in Stella's published order:
- Duck with Ground Bone
- Turkey
- Turkey Liver
- Turkey Heart
- Goose
- Turkey Gizzard
Four of the top six are turkey. Goose sits fifth, behind three turkey components. Stella's own bullet reflects this if you read it closely... it says 95% poultry, nutrient-rich organs and bone, not 95% duck and goose.
We put this at the top of the page because of who reaches for this bag. If you are avoiding turkey, this is not the right product, whatever the name on the front suggests. If your dog reacted to a turkey food and you picked this one up to get away from it, stop here and talk to us... Dandy Lamb is a single-protein topper and is what that job calls for.
For a dog that eats poultry without trouble, none of this is a problem. A three-bird recipe is a varied one, and it's a good food. Just buy it knowing what's in it.
The richest Meal Mixer Stella makes
38% protein, 38% fat, and 5,370 kcal/kg, the highest calorie density in the line.
| Meal Mixers recipe | Protein | Fat | kcal per ¼ cup |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chewy's Chicken | 48% | 28% | 50 |
| Stella's Super Beef | 41% | 35% | 56 |
| Tantalizing Turkey | 40% | 36% | 58 |
| Dandy Lamb | 38% | 38% | 59 |
| Duck Duck Goose | 38% | 38% | 60 |
| Surf 'N Turf | 45% | 34% | 62 |
It shares Dandy Lamb's 38/38 split and still carries 100 more kcal per kilogram, which is a good reminder that the guaranteed analysis alone doesn't tell you calorie density.
Being the richest in the line also makes it the one to be most careful with. A dog with a pancreatitis history, or on a vet-prescribed low-fat diet, needs that vet's view first. And a quarter cup of this on a small dog, every day, is a real addition... take the topper's calories off the dinner underneath it.
One more thing in this list that isn't in the others
This recipe lists salt, which doesn't appear in Stella's chicken, beef, lamb or turkey topper lists. Not a problem... we mention it because we read these lists line by line and we'd rather tell you what we found.
The rest of the recipe
Pumpkin seed, then the organic produce: cranberries, spinach, broccoli, beets, carrots, squash and blueberries. Fenugreek seed, kelp, a full vitamin and mineral package including vitamin D3, added taurine.
Pea-free, lentil-free and potato-free, as published for this recipe. Not true of everything Stella makes, so check each item rather than the brand.
If you also looked at the Dinner Dust
Stella's Duck Duck Goose Dinner Dust shares this recipe's ingredient list in the same order and the same 5,370 kcal/kg, and both state 38% protein. But their published fat minimums differ, 38% here and 30% on the Dinner Dust.
Both are minimums, so they aren't strictly contradictory, but the gap is big enough that it's either a website error or a real formulation difference and we can't tell which. So we're not calling them the same recipe the way we do with Stella's matched chicken and beef sets. Each product's own numbers, as published.
The probiotics, named
Four fermentation products in the list: Pediococcus acidilactici, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium longum and Bacillus coagulans. Stella doesn't publish a CFU count for this product, so we can't give you one.

Feeding guidelines
Stella publishes two charts. Cups below mean a level standard 8-fluid-ounce dry measuring cup.
As a mixer or topper, on top of your dog's regular food:
| Your dog's weight | Cups per day |
|---|---|
| 1-20 lb | ¼ |
| 21-40 lb | ½ |
| 41 lb and up | ¾ or more |
As a complete meal:
| Your dog's weight | Cups per day |
|---|---|
| 5 lb | ½ |
| 10 lb | ¾ |
| 15 lb | 1 |
| 20 lb | 1¼ |
| 40 lb | 2 |
| 60 lb | 2¾ |
| 80 lb | 3½ |
| 100 lb | 4¼ |
Stella notes puppies may need up to twice the adult amount, and to consult a veterinarian for pregnant and nursing dogs. Split the daily amount across two meals and adjust to body condition after two or three weeks.
How to use it
Crumble over the bowl dry, or rehydrate with warm water first, which brings out the smell and often wins over a fussy eater. Stella suggests bone broth as the liquid if you want to go further, and we carry their Bountiful Bone Broth.
Shelf-stable, no refrigeration needed.
Switching over
If you're moving your dog onto this as a full meal, Stella's guidance is to introduce gradually over seven to ten days, mixing with the current food and shifting the ratio. They note sudden diet changes and overfeeding can both cause digestive issues. This is the richest recipe in the line, so take the slow route.
On the label statement
Stella & Chewy's does not publish an AAFCO nutritional adequacy statement or a life stage for this product. If you intend to feed it as your dog's only food rather than as a topper, ask us and we'll read the bag, and talk to your vet.
