Stella & Chewy's Wild Weenies Grain Free Red Meat Recipe Freeze-Dried Dog Treats
Three red meats in one treat: beef, goat and lamb. Goat is genuinely unusual and it's the reason to be interested in this one. But the ingredient order matters, so here's the whole list.
Six ingredients, and the order tells you a lot
- Beef
- Beef Liver
- Sodium Alginate (the binder)
- Grass-Fed Goat
- Grass-Fed Lamb
- Mixed Tocopherols (preservative)
Both the goat and the lamb are listed after the sodium alginate. Ingredients run in descending order by weight, so there is more binder in this treat than goat, and more binder than lamb. The beef is doing nearly all the work.
Stella's bullet reads raw, grass-fed beef, goat and lamb, which is true as far as it goes. The order is what fills in the rest of the picture.
Two practical consequences:
If you came here for goat as a novel protein, it's present but in a small amount. We'd rather say that than let you pay novel-protein money for what is mostly a beef treat. It's still real variety and some dogs clearly respond to it... just calibrate your expectations.
If you are avoiding lamb, this contains lamb. And if you're avoiding beef, this is beef-first. For an elimination diet it's the wrong bag entirely. Of the seven Wild Weenies recipes, the lamb, beef and chicken versions are the genuinely single-species ones... and the lamb is the one that's also a novel protein, so that's where to go if a short clean label is the point.
Where it sits on richness
40% protein, 32% fat, 14 calories a treat at 4,625 kcal/kg. Middle of the line, and one of only three recipes that reach 40% protein.
| Wild Weenies recipe | Protein | Fat | kcal/treat | Species in the list |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chicken | 40% | 26% | 13 | chicken only |
| Beef | 40% | 31% | 14 | beef only |
| Red Meat | 40% | 32% | 14 | beef, goat, lamb |
| Bac'n Me Crazy | 38% | 34% | 14 | pork, beef |
| Lamb | 37% | 36.94% | 15 | lamb only |
| Duck | 38% | 37% | 15 | duck, turkey |
| Game Bird | 38% | 37% | 15 | turkey, duck, quail |
Note how close this sits to the plain beef recipe: 40% protein in both, 32% fat against 31%, 14 calories a treat in both. The goat and lamb change the analysis almost not at all, which is consistent with where they sit in the ingredient order. If your dog likes the beef Wild Weenies, this is a variety change rather than a nutritional one.
At 32% fat, a dog on a low-fat diet or with a pancreatitis history needs a vet's view first. The chicken recipe is the leaner option at 26% fat and 13 calories.
About the sodium alginate
A binder derived from seaweed, present in all seven Wild Weenies recipes. It gives these their shape and chew instead of being a crumbly chunk of meat.
Here it happens to be the ingredient that tells you the most, because the goat and lamb sit behind it. That's not a criticism of the binder... it's just how to read a label.

How many to give
Stella publishes no treat count and no dog-size guidance for Wild Weenies. The general rule is to keep treats to around 10% of daily calories, and the published per-treat figure makes that workable... ten of these is 140 calories, most of a small dog's treat allowance for a day. Your vet can tell you your dog's daily number.
Also on the label
Grain free, with no corn, wheat or soy. Stella doesn't print a pea-free, lentil-free or potato-free statement on any Wild Weenies recipe the way they do on their patties... what we can tell you is that none of those three appears anywhere in this six-item list.
Storage and serving
Shelf-stable, no refrigeration needed. Break pieces down for a small dog and give with fresh water nearby. Supervise, as with any treat.
On the label statement
Stella publishes no AAFCO statement for this product, and no "for intermittent or supplemental feeding only" line, which is what you'd normally expect on a treat. Its absence doesn't make it a complete food. Ask us if you want it confirmed off the bag.
