Stella & Chewy's Wild Weenies Grain Free Lamb Recipe Freeze-Dried Dog Treats
Four ingredients, two of them lamb, and nothing else animal-derived anywhere in the list. If you need a novel protein with a short, clean label, this is the Wild Weenies recipe.
The whole list
- Lamb
- Lamb Liver
- Sodium Alginate (the binder)
- Mixed Tocopherols (preservative)
Stella's bullet for this one says single source protein recipe, and the ingredient list backs the claim completely. It's also the only one of the seven where Stella actually prints that claim.
Which recipes in this line are genuinely one species, and which aren't
We read all seven lists line by line, because the names don't tell you:
| Wild Weenies recipe | Species actually in the list |
|---|---|
| Lamb | lamb only |
| Beef | beef only |
| Chicken | chicken only |
| Bac'n Me Crazy | pork and beef, both named on the bag |
| Duck | duck, plus turkey liver |
| Red Meat | beef, goat, lamb |
| Game Bird | turkey, duck, quail |
Three of the seven are genuinely single-species: lamb, beef and chicken. Bac'n Me Crazy has two species but discloses both. The remaining three don't, and their names won't warn you... the duck recipe lists turkey liver second, the Game Bird recipe is turkey-led with duck and quail behind the binder, and the Red Meat recipe is beef-led with goat and lamb behind the binder.
What makes the lamb version distinct is that it's the only single-species option in the line that is also a novel protein. Beef and chicken are clean lists too, but they're the two proteins a dog has most likely already been eating. If chicken and beef are what you're trying to get away from, this is the only recipe here that does the job.
Why lamb
Usually because chicken and beef have already been tried. Lamb is uncommon in American dog food, so a dog raised on poultry has most likely never been exposed to it. That's the reasoning and it's worth discussing with your vet... we're not in a position to tell you it will fix anything.
Where it sits on richness
37% protein, 37% fat, 15 calories a treat at 4,917 kcal/kg. One of the richer options in the line.
| Wild Weenies recipe | Protein | Fat | kcal/treat |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chicken | 40% | 26% | 13 |
| Beef | 40% | 31% | 14 |
| Red Meat | 40% | 32% | 14 |
| Bac'n Me Crazy | 38% | 34% | 14 |
| Lamb | 37% | 36.94% | 15 |
| Duck | 38% | 37% | 15 |
| Game Bird | 38% | 37% | 15 |
A small curiosity we'll pass on rather than tidy up: Stella prints this recipe's crude fat minimum as 36.94%, where every other Wild Weenies recipe uses a round number. That's what their label says, so that's what we've printed.
At roughly 37% fat this is a rich treat. If your dog is on a low-fat diet or has a pancreatitis history, ask your vet first... the chicken Wild Weenies are the leaner option at 26% fat and 13 calories a treat. The flip side is that rich treats are more motivating, which is useful when you need one that works through real distraction.
About the sodium alginate
A binder derived from seaweed, present in all seven Wild Weenies recipes. It's what gives these their shape and chew instead of being a crumbly chunk of meat.
Its position is how you read these labels: anything listed after it is present in a smaller amount than the binder. In this recipe, nothing animal-derived falls after it.

Guaranteed analysis

- Moisture (max) ... 5%
Calorie content
15 kcal per treat ... 4,917 kcal/kg
How many to give
Stella publishes no treat count and no dog-size guidance for Wild Weenies. The general rule is to keep treats to around 10% of daily calories, and the published per-treat figure makes that workable... ten of these is 150 calories, most of a small dog's treat allowance for a day. Your vet can tell you your dog's daily number.
Also on the label
Grain free, with no corn, wheat or soy. Stella doesn't print a pea-free, lentil-free or potato-free statement on any Wild Weenies recipe the way they do on their patties... what we can tell you is that none of those three appears anywhere in this four-item list.
Storage and serving
Shelf-stable, no refrigeration needed. Break pieces down for a small dog and give with fresh water nearby. Supervise, as with any treat.
On the label statement
Stella publishes no AAFCO statement for this product, and no "for intermittent or supplemental feeding only" line, which is what you'd normally expect on a treat. Its absence doesn't make it a complete food. Ask us if you want it confirmed off the bag.
