Instinct RawBoost+ Mixers Mobility Support Recipe Freeze-Dried Dog Food Topper

Instinct RawBoost+ Mixers Mobility Support Recipe Freeze-Dried Dog Food Topper

RawBoost+ Mixers Mobility Support are freeze-dried raw chicken pieces with a few extras Instinct chose with hips and joints in mind. Sprinkle them over the usual bowl for flavor, and your older dog gets a little something extra with every meal.

What's actually in it

Chicken, chicken liver and chicken heart are the base, and Instinct notes the chicken is a natural source of glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate, which Instinct includes at guaranteed levels to support hips and joints. New Zealand green mussel, turmeric and fenugreek are also in the recipe, and ground flaxseed and salmon oil add omega fatty acids. Mixed tocopherols and rosemary extract keep it fresh. Instinct says its frozen and freeze-dried raw recipes are made in its company-owned facilities in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Who it suits, and who it doesn't

It suits a senior or active dog on a regular food who would enjoy a raw topper, and families who like the idea of glucosamine and chondroitin coming from the food itself. Instinct designed it to support joint mobility; a dog with a diagnosed joint condition should be fed under a veterinarian's guidance.

It isn't the right choice for a dog avoiding chicken, fish or shellfish, and it isn't a substitute for a complete meal. If you're unsure, our Personal Pet Consultant is happy to help ... call 732-938-4470.

AAFCO statement

Instinct's label carries no complete-and-balanced statement for this product. Instead it says: "This product is intended for intermittent or supplemental feeding only." Treat it as an extra on top of a complete food, not a meal by itself.

Calorie content

4,690 kcal/kg ... 310 kcal per cup (Instinct's label: metabolizable energy, calculated). A cup means a standard 8-fluid-ounce dry measuring cup, filled level. It measures volume, not 8 ounces by weight, so scoop it rather than weigh it.

Feeding guidelines

From Instinct's label: "This product is intended for intermittent or supplemental feeding only. Add Instinct RawBoost Mixers to your dog's current food using the chart below. Remember to reduce the calorie amount of your current food accordingly to avoid overfeeding."

Cups are a standard 8 oz dry measuring cup. Always keep fresh water out.

Safe handling

Freeze-dried raw is still raw, so wash your hands and your dog's bowl with hot, soapy water after serving. Instinct says to store and serve it as you would any dry food. If you rehydrate it, Instinct says to discard leftovers within two hours.

Switching over

Start small. A light sprinkle of RawBoost+ Mixers Mobility Support Recipe on the first few meals lets you see how your dog's stomach handles it, and you can build up from there over a week or so. Instinct reminds owners to cut back the main food a little to make room for the extra calories.

Sizes

5.5 oz bag. The 5.5 oz bag holds roughly 2⅓ cups, about 5 days for a 30 lb dog getting ½ cup a day. Counts are worked out from Instinct's printed calorie figures and are close estimates.

Storage

Unopened, Instinct gives its freeze-dried food a shelf life of two years. Once opened, Instinct says it stays fresh for up to 30 days as long as it's resealed between feedings. Keep it somewhere cool and dry, and press the air out before you zip it shut.
