Instinct Freshly Crafted Meals Grass-Fed Beef Recipe Wet Dog Food
Know Before You Buy
- Animal proteins in this recipe: Beef (beef, beef broth, beef liver), pork, salmon oil.
- Contains: Beef ... Pork ... Fish (salmon oil) ... Grains (brown rice) ... Sweet potatoes.
- Does not contain: Chicken, turkey, egg, dairy, peas, corn, wheat, soy or white potato (per the manufacturer's ingredient list).
- Pork is the third ingredient. Despite the beef name, this recipe also contains pork and salmon oil, so it isn't a beef-only food. It is chicken-free.
- Life stage: Instinct's AAFCO statement covers maintenance only, so this is an adult food, not one for growing puppies.
Freshly Crafted Meals are Instinct's ready-to-serve meals in a shelf-stable 11 oz carton, made by Nature's Variety. Instinct describes them as 100% human grade, made with real ingredients you can see. The Grass-Fed Beef recipe is the heartiest of the three, with beef, pork, sweet potatoes and pumpkin.
What's actually in it
Grass-fed beef and beef broth lead, followed by pork, and beef liver appears further down. Sweet potatoes, pumpkin, spinach and carrots bring color and fiber, with brown rice and tapioca for carbohydrates. Sunflower oil and salmon oil add fats, and the recipe finishes with sage, thyme and rosemary.
It is a lean, high-moisture meal: 2% minimum fat and up to 80% moisture. It contains no peas, which some families look for.
Who it suits, and who it doesn't
It suits a healthy adult dog who loves red meat, and families avoiding chicken or peas. It works as a full meal or a topper over kibble.
It isn't meant for growing puppies, since Instinct's AAFCO statement covers maintenance only. It isn't the right pick for a dog avoiding beef, pork or fish, or a family wanting a grain-free food. If you're unsure, our Personal Pet Consultant is happy to help ... call 732-938-4470.

AAFCO statement
Instinct Freshly Crafted Meals, Grass-Fed Beef Recipe is formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by the AAFCO Dog Food Nutrient Profiles for maintenance.
Calorie content
Calorie Content (Calculated): ME = 930 kcal/kg ... 219 kcal/cup. Instinct gives the figure per cup rather than per carton, and its feeding guide below is in whole 11 oz packs.
Feeding guidelines
Instinct's daily feeding guidelines, by your adult dog's weight. Ideal feeding amounts depend on age, weight, and activity level.
| Weight of adult dog | Packs per day |
|---|---|
| 10 lb | 1 |
| 20 lb | 1¾ |
| 30 lb | 2½ |
| 40 lb | 3 |
| 50 lb+ | 3½+ |
These are starting points, not prescriptions. If you serve it alongside kibble, cut back on both so the day's total stays about the same. Check your dog's body condition after two or three weeks... ribs easy to feel under a thin layer, a waist visible from above... and adjust. Always keep fresh water out.
Switching over
Change foods gradually over about a week. Start with roughly a quarter Freshly Crafted Beef mixed into the old food, move to half, then three quarters, then all Freshly Crafted Beef. Going slowly gives your dog's stomach time to adjust.
Sizes, and how long a case lasts
Sold as a single 11 oz carton or a case of 12. For a 20 lb adult eating Instinct's 1¾ packs a day with nothing else, a case lasts about a week. As a topper or a once-a-day meal, it goes much further.
Storage
Instinct notes these meals are ready to serve, with no fridge or freezer needed before opening. Keep unopened cartons somewhere cool and dry. Instinct's direction once opened: "Refrigerate unused portion in a sealed container up to 4 days."
