Feeding guidelines

Fromm's published daily amounts, in ounces of food per day, by your cat's current weight. Split the total across two or more meals.

Each can holds 3 oz, so 10 oz a day works out to about 3⅓ cans if this is your cat's only food.

These are starting points, not prescriptions. Fromm notes that age, breed, weight and activity level all affect how much a cat needs. Kittens, and cats that are pregnant or nursing, may need two to four times more food, kittens under four pounds or younger than six weeks should be fed free choice, and spayed or neutered cats may need up to 25% less. If you also feed dry food, cut back on both so the day's total stays about the same. Check your cat's body condition after two or three weeks... ribs easy to feel under a thin layer, a waist visible from above... and adjust. Always keep fresh water out.

Switching over

Change foods gradually over about a week. Start with roughly a quarter Shredded Chicken in Gelée mixed into the old food, move to half, then three quarters, then all Shredded Chicken in Gelée. Going slowly gives your cat's stomach time to adjust, and gives a picky eater time to warm up to something new.
