Fromm PurrSnickitty Duck Liver Pâté Wet Cat Food
Know Before You Buy
- Animal proteins in this recipe: Duck (duck broth, duck liver, duck), salmon oil.
- Contains: Duck ... Fish (salmon oil) ... Chickpeas (legume) ... Flaxseed.
- Does not contain: Chicken, turkey, beef, egg, dairy, grains, potatoes, peas or yeast (per the manufacturer's ingredient list).
- Duck liver is the second ingredient, ahead of duck meat. This is a rich, liver-forward pâté. It does contain fish in the form of salmon oil.
- Life stage: Fromm's AAFCO statement covers all life stages, so it can be fed to kittens and adult cats alike.
PurrSnickitty is Fromm's line for the cat who turns up her nose at everything else, and this duck liver pâté is about as rich as it gets. Fromm Family Foods, the family-owned company in Mequon, Wisconsin, describes it as a smooth pâté with the duck finely minced. For a cat who wants nothing but the good stuff, it's a simple, short recipe built almost entirely on one protein.
What's actually in it
Duck leads three ways: duck broth, duck liver and duck. Liver is a nutrient-dense organ meat, and here it comes before the duck itself, which gives the pâté its deep flavor. Chickpeas are the only starchy ingredient, and flaxseed and salmon oil add omega fatty acids, which Fromm includes to support skin and coat. Agar-agar and xanthan gum hold the pâté together, and taurine, an amino acid cats must get from their food, is added along with the vitamins and minerals. There's no chicken anywhere on the list, and no grain.
Who it suits, and who it doesn't
It suits a picky cat of any age, from kitten to senior, and is a good option for a cat whose family is steering away from chicken. It's grain-free. Because Fromm's AAFCO statement covers all life stages, it can be the whole meal or a rotation can alongside other foods.
It isn't the right can for a cat avoiding fish, since salmon oil is in it, or for a cat that needs to watch calories, since at 91 kcal per 3 oz can it is one of the richer cans we carry from Fromm. If you're unsure, our Personal Pet Consultant is happy to help ... call 732-938-4470.

AAFCO statement
Fromm® PurrSnickitty™ Duck Liver Pâté Food for Cats is formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by the AAFCO Cat Food Nutrient Profiles for All Life Stages.
Calorie content
1,075 kcal/kg ... 91 kcal per 3 oz can.
Feeding guidelines
Fromm's published daily amounts, in ounces of food per day, by your cat's current weight. Split the total across two or more meals.
| Current weight | Growth | Adult maintenance |
|---|---|---|
| 4 lb | 5 oz | 4 oz |
| 6 lb | 7.5 oz | 6 oz |
| 8 lb | 10 oz | 8 oz |
| 10 lb | 12.5 oz | 10 oz |
| 12 lb | 15 oz | 12 oz |
| 14 lb | 17.5 oz | 14 oz |
| 16 lb | 20 oz | 16 oz |
Each can holds 3 oz, so 10 oz a day works out to about 3⅓ cans if this is your cat's only food.
These are starting points, not prescriptions. Fromm notes that age, breed, weight and activity level all affect how much a cat needs. Kittens, and cats that are pregnant or nursing, may need two to four times more food, kittens under four pounds or younger than six weeks should be fed free choice, and spayed or neutered cats may need up to 25% less. If you also feed dry food, cut back on both so the day's total stays about the same. Check your cat's body condition after two or three weeks... ribs easy to feel under a thin layer, a waist visible from above... and adjust. Always keep fresh water out.
Switching over
Change foods gradually over about a week. Start with roughly a quarter Duck Liver Pâté mixed into the old food, move to half, then three quarters, then all Duck Liver Pâté. Going slowly gives your cat's stomach time to adjust, and gives a picky eater time to warm up to something new.
Sizes, and how long a case lasts
Sold by the single 3 oz can or a case of 12 (36 oz in all). For a 10 lb adult cat eating Fromm's 10 oz a day with nothing else, a case lasts about three and a half days. Most families mix it with dry food or use it as a once-a-day meal, so a case will usually go much further.
Storage
Keep unopened cans somewhere cool and dry. Once a can is open, cover and refrigerate any unused portion and use it within a few days.
