Horse Feed

It was once said that, “A dog may be man’s best friend, but the horse wrote history.” Horses have been around for a long time. In the past, feeding them was much more simple. It was a combination of water, hay, grass, and salt. Now that there are a multitude of food options that can be purchased for equine, choosing the right feed for your horse can be confusing. Luckily, you don’t have to worry about that anymore! Carrying premium brands like Purina, Triumph, Triple Crown, Southern States, Nutrena, Manna, etc, The Hungry Puppy has a wide selection of horse feed that is sure to provide a healthy diet for your companion!

Hay, salt, and water are still the main components that should make up your horse’s diet, and grain should be incorporated as much as needed to maintain their body composition. Forage should actually be maximized as much as possible, as it promotes a healthy digestive system and typically meets requirements for protein and fiber. Plus it takes longer to chew, strengthening their jaws and teeth while keeping them entertained and mentally stimulated. However, hay ranges so widely in its amount of protein that it’s very possible that your horse isn’t getting enough. That’s where The Hungry Puppy’s food and supplements come in. Aside from hay and oats, we also offer both pellets and textured feed. Textured food is good for picky eaters or pet parents that like to see exactly what is going into their companion’s system. Pellets are better for convenient storage and horses with dental issues that cannot chew as well. Regardless of which you choose, our products come with appropriate levels of crude protein, fiber, and fat, whether it be the common 10%, 12%, or even 30%. Many of them are also specifically designed with certain health conditions and purposes in mind, including but not limited to, age, growth, gastrointestinal care, extra omega fatty acids, low starch, racing, competing, performance, etc. In addition, you can mix in dewormers and Farnam Sand Clear products that remove worms from your pet’s system or dirt and sand that may get into your horse’s food while they are consuming it.

Whether your horse likes pelleted or textured food, and regardless of what conditions they need special attention and care for, The Hungry Puppy provides your companion with the most delicious, nutritious diet they need for you to enjoy the ride of life together!
