Fromm Four-Star Salmon with Sweet Potato Dog Treats

Four-Star Salmon with Sweet Potato is an oven-baked biscuit from Fromm Family Foods, the family-owned company in Mequon, Wisconsin. Fromm makes it with wild salmon, sweet potatoes, green bell peppers and spinach, and it's a nice change of pace for a dog who loves fish.

What's actually in it

Salmon is the first ingredient. Sweet potatoes, which give the treat its name, sit further down in the vegetable blend. As with the rest of the Four-Star treats, the added fat is chicken fat, so this is a salmon treat that also contains chicken.

The rest of the recipe is the same base Fromm uses across the Four-Star treat line: pea flour, potato flour, tapioca and whole peas to hold the biscuit together, then a long run of fruit and vegetables including cranberries, sweet potatoes, carrots, apples, green beans, bell peppers, celery, beets, parsley, lettuce and spinach. There are no grains in the ingredient list. The only added fat is chicken fat, preserved with mixed tocopherols (a natural source of vitamin E).

Who it suits, and who it doesn't
