Know Before You Buy
- Animal proteins in this recipe: Lamb, lamb broth, lamb liver, salmon oil.
- Contains: Lamb ... Fish (salmon oil) ... Legumes (lentils, peas) ... Potatoes and sweet potatoes.

Lamb & Sweet Potato is the grain-free lamb option in the Fromm Pâté line. Fromm Family Foods, a family-owned company based in Mequon, Wisconsin, describes it as finely minced lamb cooked in lamb broth with sweet potatoes, lentils and carrots, complete and balanced for all life stages.
What's actually in it
Lamb, lamb broth and lamb liver are the first three ingredients, and unlike Fromm's Lamb Pâté, there's no pork in this one. Salmon oil is added as a source of omega fatty acids, which Fromm includes to support skin and coat.
It's grain-free. Sweet potatoes, lentils, potatoes, carrots and peas make up the rest, with a little tomato paste. Agar-agar, xanthan gum and calcium sulfate give it its firm texture, and Fromm adds vitamins and proteinate (chelated) minerals. It runs a bit higher in fat than Fromm's Lamb Pâté.
Who it suits, and who it doesn't
It suits a healthy dog of any age that does well on lamb, including a large breed puppy, and families who have chosen a grain-free food. It's a good fit for a household avoiding chicken, beef and pork.

These are starting points, not prescriptions. Fromm notes that puppies, and dogs that are pregnant or nursing, may need two to four times more food, and spayed or neutered dogs may need up to 25% less. If you serve it alongside kibble, cut back on both so the day's total stays about the same. Check your dog's body condition after two or three weeks... ribs easy to feel under a thin layer, a waist visible from above... and adjust. Always keep fresh water out.
Switching over
Change foods gradually over about a week. Start with roughly a quarter Lamb & Sweet Potato mixed into the old food, move to half, then three quarters, then all Lamb & Sweet Potato. Going slowly gives your dog's stomach time to adjust.
Sizes, and how long a case lasts
Sold by the case of 12 cans, 13 oz each. For a 20 lb dog eating only this food, Fromm's chart calls for 1.2 cans a day, so a case of 12 lasts about ten days. Fed as a topper over kibble, a case goes much further. Fromm's current listing shows a 12.2 oz can, and the calorie and feeding figures above are based on Fromm's can.
Storage
Store unopened cans somewhere cool and dry. Cover and refrigerate any unused portion and use it within a few days.
