Fromm Grain Free Chicken & Sweet Potato Pâté Wet Dog Food
Know Before You Buy
- Animal proteins in this recipe: Chicken, chicken broth, chicken liver, salmon oil.
- Contains: Chicken ... Fish (salmon oil) ... Lentils ... Peas ... Potatoes (sweet potatoes, potatoes).
- Does not contain: Grains of any kind, beef, pork, turkey, lamb, egg, dairy, corn, wheat or soy (per the manufacturer's ingredient list).
- Grain-free, but not legume-free. Lentils are the fifth ingredient and peas follow later, so this isn't the can for a dog avoiding legumes.
- Life stage: Fromm's AAFCO statement covers all life stages, including growth of large size dogs (70 lb or more as an adult).
This is Fromm's smooth, sliceable chicken pâté, made with sweet potatoes, lentils and carrots instead of grains. Fromm Family Foods, a family-owned company based in Mequon, Wisconsin, finely minces the chicken and cooks it in chicken broth, so it spreads easily over kibble or serves as a complete meal by itself.
What's actually in it
Chicken shows up three ways at the top: chicken, chicken broth and chicken liver. The only other animal ingredient is salmon oil, which adds omega fatty acids that Fromm includes to support skin and coat. That makes the protein picture refreshingly simple.
The rest of the recipe is sweet potatoes, lentils, carrots, potatoes, peas and a little tomato paste, held together with agar-agar and xanthan gum. It's grain-free, and the added vitamins and minerals make it complete and balanced.
Who it suits, and who it doesn't
It suits a dog who does well on chicken and a family looking for a grain-free wet food with a short list of animal ingredients. The AAFCO statement covers all life stages, including large breed puppies. The smooth texture is also handy for small mouths, seniors, or hiding a pill.
It isn't the right can for a dog avoiding chicken or fish, or one whose diet limits lentils, peas or potatoes. If you're unsure, our Personal Pet Consultant is happy to help ... call 732-938-4470.

Feeding guidelines
Fromm's published daily amounts when this is your dog's only food, by your dog's ideal weight. Split the total across two meals.

| 35 lb | 26.25 oz | 2 1/7 cans |
| 40 lb | 30 oz | 2½ cans |
| 45 lb | 33.75 oz | 2¾ cans |

| 100 lb | 75 oz | 6 1/7 cans |
These are starting points, not prescriptions. Fromm notes that puppies, and dogs that are pregnant or nursing, may need two to four times more food, and spayed or neutered dogs may need up to 25% less. If you serve it alongside kibble, cut back on both so the day's total stays about the same. Check your dog's body condition after two or three weeks... ribs easy to feel under a thin layer, a waist visible from above... and adjust. Always keep fresh water out.
Switching over
Change foods gradually over about a week. Start with roughly a quarter Chicken & Sweet Potato Pâté mixed into the old food, move to half, then three quarters, then all Chicken & Sweet Potato Pâté. If you're only adding a spoonful as a topper, a slow start still helps. Going slowly gives your dog's stomach time to adjust.
Sizes, and how long a case lasts
Sold as a single 12 oz can or a 12-pack. Using Fromm's chart, a 15 lb dog eating 1 can a day as its only food would go through a 12-pack in about 12 days. As a topper over kibble, it lasts much longer.
Storage
Cover and refrigerate any unused portion and use it within a few days. Unopened cans keep best somewhere cool and dry.
