Fromm Chicken Pate Wet Dog Food
Know Before You Buy
- Animal proteins in this recipe: Chicken, chicken broth, chicken liver, dried egg product, salmon oil.
- Contains: Chicken ... Egg ... Fish (salmon oil) ... Peas ... Potatoes ... Flaxseed.
- Does not contain: Beef, pork, lamb, turkey, duck, dairy, grains, soy or yeast (per the manufacturer's ingredient list).
- Chicken plus egg and fish oil. The name says chicken, but dried egg product and salmon oil are both in the can, so it isn't a single-protein food.
- Life stage: Fromm's AAFCO statement covers all life stages, including growth of large size dogs (70 lb or more as an adult).
Chicken Pâté is the simplest can in the Fromm Pâté lineup and an easy one to keep in the pantry. Fromm Family Foods, a family-owned company based in Mequon, Wisconsin, makes it from finely minced chicken cooked in chicken broth with potatoes, carrots and peas.
What's actually in it
Chicken, chicken broth and chicken liver are the first three ingredients. Dried egg product adds more protein, and salmon oil and flaxseed add omega fatty acids, which Fromm includes to support skin and coat.
It's grain-free. Potatoes, carrots and peas fill out the recipe with a little tomato paste. Agar-agar and xanthan gum give the pâté its smooth, sliceable texture, and Fromm adds vitamins and proteinate (chelated) minerals.
Who it suits, and who it doesn't
It suits a healthy dog of any age that does well on chicken, from a puppy (including a large breed puppy) to a senior. Its smooth texture makes it easy to mash for small mouths or older dogs, and it works well as a topper.
It isn't the right can for a dog avoiding chicken, egg or fish. If you're unsure, our Personal Pet Consultant is happy to help ... call 732-938-4470.

Feeding guidelines
Fromm's published daily amounts when this is the only food in the bowl, by your dog's ideal weight. Split the total across two meals.
| Ideal weight | Ounces of food per day | Cans of Fromm Pâté per day |
|---|---|---|
| 5 lb | 3.75 oz | ⅓ can |
| 10 lb | 7.5 oz | 3/5 can |
| 15 lb | 11.25 oz | 1 can |
| 20 lb | 15 oz | 1 2/9 cans |
| 25 lb | 18.75 oz | 1½ cans |
| 30 lb | 22.5 oz | 1 5/6 cans |
| 35 lb | 26.25 oz | 2 1/7 cans |
| 40 lb | 30 oz | 2½ cans |
| 45 lb | 33.75 oz | 2¾ cans |
| 50 lb | 37.5 oz | 3 cans |
| 55 lb | 41.25 oz | 3⅜ cans |
| 60 lb | 45 oz | 3⅔ cans |
| 65 lb | 48.75 oz | 4 cans |
| 70 lb | 52.5 oz | 4⅓ cans |
| 75 lb | 56.25 oz | 4 3/5 cans |
| 80 lb | 60 oz | 5 cans |
| 85 lb | 63.75 oz | 5 2/9 cans |
| 90 lb | 67.5 oz | 5½ cans |
| 95 lb | 71.25 oz | 5 5/6 cans |
| 100 lb | 75 oz | 6 1/7 cans |
These are starting points, not prescriptions. Fromm notes that puppies, and dogs that are pregnant or nursing, may need two to four times more food, and spayed or neutered dogs may need up to 25% less. If you serve it alongside kibble, cut back on both so the day's total stays about the same. Check your dog's body condition after two or three weeks... ribs easy to feel under a thin layer, a waist visible from above... and adjust. Always keep fresh water out.
Switching over
Change foods gradually over about a week. Start with roughly a quarter Chicken Pâté mixed into the old food, move to half, then three quarters, then all Chicken Pâté. Going slowly gives your dog's stomach time to adjust.
Sizes, and how long a case lasts
Sold as a single 13 oz can or a case of 12 cans. For a 20 lb dog eating only this food, Fromm's chart calls for 1 2/9 cans a day, so a case of 12 lasts about ten days. Fed as a topper over kibble, a case goes much further. Fromm's current listing shows a 12.2 oz can, and the calorie and feeding figures above are based on Fromm's can.
Storage
Store unopened cans somewhere cool and dry. Cover and refrigerate any unused portion and use it within a few days.
