Fromm Frommbalaya Chicken, Vegetable & Rice Stew Wet Dog Food
Know Before You Buy
- Animal proteins in this recipe: Chicken, chicken broth, turkey broth, dried egg product, salmon oil.
- Contains: Chicken ... Turkey ... Egg ... Fish (salmon oil) ... Grains (white rice) ... Peas ... Potatoes.
- Does not contain: Beef, pork, lamb, dairy, corn, wheat or soy (per the manufacturer's ingredient list).
- Contains turkey as well as chicken. Turkey broth is the third ingredient, so this isn't a single-protein chicken food.
- Life stage: Fromm's AAFCO statement covers all life stages, including growth of large size dogs (70 lb or more as an adult).
Frommbalaya Chicken is the classic of the stew family... chicken with potatoes, carrots and rice in a savory broth, the kind of bowl that smells like Sunday supper. Fromm Family Foods, a family-owned company in Mequon, Wisconsin, makes it in small batches, and it's complete and balanced as a meal on its own or as a topper.
What's actually in it
Chicken and chicken broth lead, followed by turkey broth, potatoes, carrots, white rice and peas. Dried egg product adds a touch more protein. It's 82% moisture, so it's a soft, spoonable stew rather than a dense loaf.
Tapioca starch and xanthan gum thicken the broth. Salmon oil adds omega fatty acids, which Fromm includes to support skin and coat, and the vitamin and mineral pack makes it complete and balanced.
Who it suits, and who it doesn't
It suits most dogs who do well on chicken, from puppies (the AAFCO statement covers all life stages, including large breed growth) to seniors who prefer a soft meal. It's also an easy way to add moisture and interest to a dry diet.
It isn't the right can for a dog avoiding chicken, turkey, egg or fish, or for a family that wants a grain-free food. If you're unsure, our Personal Pet Consultant is happy to help ... call 732-938-4470.

These are starting points, not prescriptions. Fromm notes that puppies, and dogs that are pregnant or nursing, may need two to four times more food, and spayed or neutered dogs may need up to 25% less. If you serve it alongside kibble, cut back on both so the day's total stays about the same. Check your dog's body condition after two or three weeks... ribs easy to feel under a thin layer, a waist visible from above... and adjust. Always keep fresh water out.
Switching over
Change foods gradually over about a week. Start with roughly a quarter Frommbalaya Chicken mixed into the old food, move to half, then three quarters, then all Frommbalaya Chicken. If you're only adding a spoonful as a topper, a slow start still helps. Going slowly gives your dog's stomach time to adjust.
Sizes, and how long a case lasts
Sold as a single 13 oz can or a case of 12. Using Fromm's chart, a 20 lb dog eating 1 1/5 cans a day as its only food would go through a case in about 10 days. Served as a topper over kibble, a case lasts a good deal longer.
Storage
Cover and refrigerate any unused portion and use it within a few days. Unopened cans keep best somewhere cool and dry.
