Fromm Four-Star Turkey & Duck Pâté Wet Cat Food
Know Before You Buy
- Animal proteins in this recipe: Turkey, turkey broth, turkey liver, duck, salmon oil.
- Contains: Turkey ... Duck ... Fish (salmon oil) ... Lentils ... Sweet potatoes.
- Does not contain: Chicken, beef, pork, lamb, egg, dairy, grains, corn, wheat, soy, peas, chickpeas or white potatoes (per the manufacturer's ingredient list).
- Chicken-free, but not fish-free. Salmon oil is on the list, and lentils are the fifth ingredient.
- Life stage: Fromm's AAFCO statement covers all life stages under the AAFCO Cat Food Nutrient Profiles, so it can be fed to kittens and adult cats alike.
Turkey & Duck Pâté is Fromm's chicken-free poultry pairing: finely minced turkey and duck cooked in turkey broth. It's made by Fromm Family Foods, a family-owned company in Mequon, Wisconsin, and it's complete and balanced for all life stages.
What's actually in it
Turkey, turkey broth and turkey liver lead, then duck. Lentils, sweet potatoes and tomato paste follow. There are no grains on the ingredient list, and no chicken anywhere on it.
Salmon oil adds omega fatty acids, which Fromm includes to support skin and coat. Taurine, which cats need in their diet, is added along with a full vitamin and mineral pack. Locust bean gum and xanthan gum give the pâté its texture.
Who it suits, and who it doesn't
It suits a cat that enjoys poultry when the family is steering clear of chicken. Because Fromm's AAFCO statement covers all life stages, kittens and adults can share it.
It isn't the right can for a cat avoiding turkey, duck, fish or legumes. If you're unsure, our Personal Pet Consultant is happy to help ... call 732-938-4470.

Feeding guidelines
Fromm's published daily amounts, by your cat's ideal weight, when this pâté is the whole diet. Split the total across two or more meals.
| Ideal weight | Ounces of food per day | 5.5 oz cans per day |
|---|---|---|
| 4 lb | 4 oz | 5/7 can |
| 6 lb | 6 oz | 1 can |
| 8 lb | 8 oz | 1½ cans |
| 10 lb | 10 oz | 1⅘ cans |
| 12 lb | 12 oz | 2⅙ cans |
| 14 lb | 14 oz | 2½ cans |
| 16 lb | 16 oz | 3 cans |
| 18 lb | 18 oz | 3 2/7 cans |
| 20 lb | 20 oz | 3⅝ cans |
| 22 lb | 22 oz | 4 cans |
| 24 lb | 24 oz | 4⅓ cans |
| 26 lb | 26 oz | 4¾ cans |
| 28 lb | 28 oz | 5 cans |
| 30 lb | 30 oz | 5 4/9 cans |
These are starting points, not prescriptions. Fromm notes that age, breed, weight, activity level and other factors will affect how much food a cat needs. Check your cat's body condition after two or three weeks... ribs easy to feel under a thin layer, a gentle waist behind the ribs... and adjust. If you feed dry food as well, cut the canned amount back so the day's total stays about the same. Always keep fresh water out.
Switching over
Cats can be particular, so change foods gradually over about a week, or longer for a picky eater. Start with a small spoonful of Turkey & Duck Pâté mixed into the old food, then increase it a little each day until it's the whole meal. Going slowly gives your cat's stomach, and opinions, time to adjust.
Sizes, and how long a case lasts
5.5 oz cans in a 12-pack. For a 10 lb cat eating 1⅘ cans a day with nothing else, a 12-pack lasts just under a week. If you also feed dry food, it will stretch further. Can counts are worked out from Fromm's feeding chart and are close estimates.
Storage
Fromm doesn't publish separate guidance for opened cans, so follow the usual rule: cover and refrigerate any unused portion and use it within a few days. Unopened cans keep best somewhere cool and dry.
