Fromm Four-Star Salmon & Tuna Pâté Wet Cat Food
Know Before You Buy
- Animal proteins in this recipe: Salmon, fish broth, tuna, whitefish, chicken liver, dried egg product.
- Contains: Fish (salmon, tuna, whitefish, fish broth) ... Chicken (chicken liver) ... Egg ... Chickpeas.
- Does not contain: Beef, pork, lamb, duck, turkey, dairy, grains, corn, wheat, soy, peas, lentils, potatoes or yeast (per the manufacturer's ingredient list).
- Hidden chicken. This reads as an all-fish can, but chicken liver is the fifth ingredient, so it is not chicken-free.
- Life stage: Fromm's AAFCO statement covers all life stages under the AAFCO Cat Food Nutrient Profiles, so it can be fed to kittens and adult cats alike.
Salmon & Tuna Pâté is the fish lover's can in Fromm's Four-Star pâté line: finely minced salmon and tuna cooked in fish broth. Fromm Family Foods, a family-owned company in Mequon, Wisconsin, makes it in small batches, and it's complete and balanced for all life stages.
What's actually in it
Salmon leads, then fish broth, tuna and whitefish. Chicken liver comes next, followed by chickpeas, flaxseed, tomato paste and dried egg product. There are no grains on the ingredient list.
Fish and flaxseed bring omega fatty acids, which Fromm includes to support skin and coat. Taurine is added, along with a full vitamin and mineral pack and menadione sodium bisulfite complex, a source of vitamin K activity. At 149 kcal per can it is one of the lighter cans in the Four-Star pâté line.
Who it suits, and who it doesn't
It suits a cat who prefers fish flavors and a smooth texture. Because Fromm's AAFCO statement covers all life stages, it can be fed to kittens and adults alike.
It isn't the right can for a cat avoiding chicken, since chicken liver is in it, or one avoiding fish, egg or legumes. If you're unsure, our Personal Pet Consultant is happy to help ... call 732-938-4470.

AAFCO statement
Fromm Four-Star Nutritionals® Salmon & Tuna Pâté Food for Cats is formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by the AAFCO Cat Food Nutrient Profiles for All Life Stages.
Calorie content
962 kcal/kg ... 149 kcal per 5.5 oz can (metabolizable energy, calculated, as published by Fromm).
Feeding guidelines
Fromm's published daily amounts, by your cat's ideal weight, when this pâté is the whole diet. Split the total across two or more meals.
| Ideal weight | Ounces of food per day | 5.5 oz cans per day |
|---|---|---|
| 4 lb | 4 oz | 5/7 can |
| 6 lb | 6 oz | 1 can |
| 8 lb | 8 oz | 1½ cans |
| 10 lb | 10 oz | 1⅘ cans |
| 12 lb | 12 oz | 2⅙ cans |
| 14 lb | 14 oz | 2½ cans |
| 16 lb | 16 oz | 3 cans |
| 18 lb | 18 oz | 3 2/7 cans |
| 20 lb | 20 oz | 3⅝ cans |
| 22 lb | 22 oz | 4 cans |
| 24 lb | 24 oz | 4⅓ cans |
| 26 lb | 26 oz | 4¾ cans |
| 28 lb | 28 oz | 5 cans |
| 30 lb | 30 oz | 5 4/9 cans |
These are starting points, not prescriptions. Fromm notes that age, breed, weight, activity level and other factors will affect how much food a cat needs. Check your cat's body condition after two or three weeks... ribs easy to feel under a thin layer, a gentle waist behind the ribs... and adjust. If you feed dry food as well, cut the canned amount back so the day's total stays about the same. Always keep fresh water out.
Switching over
Cats can be particular, so change foods gradually over about a week, or longer for a picky eater. Start with a small spoonful of Salmon & Tuna Pâté mixed into the old food, then increase it a little each day until it's the whole meal. Going slowly gives your cat's stomach, and opinions, time to adjust.
Sizes, and how long a case lasts
5.5 oz cans, sold here by the case. Fromm packs Salmon & Tuna Pâté 12 cans to a case. For a 10 lb cat eating 1⅘ cans a day with nothing else, a case of 12 lasts just under a week. If you also feed dry food, it will stretch further. Can counts are worked out from Fromm's feeding chart and are close estimates.
Storage
Fromm doesn't publish separate guidance for opened cans, so follow the usual rule: cover and refrigerate any unused portion and use it within a few days. Unopened cans keep best somewhere cool and dry.
