Fromm Classic Turkey & Rice Pâté Wet Dog Food
Know Before You Buy
- Animal proteins in this recipe: Turkey, turkey broth, turkey liver, salmon oil, dried egg product.
- Contains: Turkey ... Egg ... Fish (salmon oil) ... Grains (white rice) ... Potatoes ... Yeast.
- Does not contain: Chicken, beef, pork, lamb, dairy, peas, lentils, corn, wheat or soy (per the manufacturer's ingredient list).
- Chicken-free, but not egg-free. We checked the full list and found no chicken, but dried egg product and salmon oil are both in it.
- Life stage: Fromm's AAFCO statement covers growth and maintenance, including growth of large size dogs (70 lb or more as an adult), even though Fromm sells it as an adult recipe.
Fromm's Classic line is their original, simple style of recipe, and this pâté keeps it that way: turkey cooked in turkey broth with rice, potatoes and carrots. Fromm Family Foods, a family-owned company based in Mequon, Wisconsin, makes it as an everyday adult can that's complete on its own or a handy mix-in.
What's actually in it
Turkey and turkey broth lead, with white rice third and turkey liver fourth. Dried egg product and salmon oil are the only other animal ingredients. Salmon oil adds omega fatty acids, which Fromm includes to support skin and coat.
Potatoes, carrots, dried beet pulp and dried yeast round out the recipe. There are no peas or lentils, which some families look for specifically. Added vitamins, minerals, DL-methionine and choline make it complete and balanced.
Who it suits, and who it doesn't
It suits an adult dog who does well on turkey, a home that wants a grain-inclusive can without legumes, and dogs who need to avoid chicken. Fromm's AAFCO statement also covers growth, including large breed growth, so it can be fed to a puppy.
It isn't the right can for a dog avoiding turkey, egg, fish or yeast. If you're unsure, our Personal Pet Consultant is happy to help ... call 732-938-4470.

These are starting points, not prescriptions. Fromm notes that puppies, and dogs that are pregnant or nursing, may need two to four times more food, and spayed or neutered dogs may need up to 25% less. If you serve it alongside kibble, cut back on both so the day's total stays about the same. Check your dog's body condition after two or three weeks... ribs easy to feel under a thin layer, a waist visible from above... and adjust. Always keep fresh water out.
Switching over
Change foods gradually over about a week. Start with roughly a quarter Classic Turkey & Rice mixed into the old food, move to half, then three quarters, then all Classic Turkey & Rice. If you're only adding a spoonful as a topper, a slow start still helps. Going slowly gives your dog's stomach time to adjust.
Sizes, and how long a case lasts
Sold as a 12-can case of 13 oz cans. Using Fromm's chart, a 20 lb dog eating 1 1/5 cans a day as its only food would go through a case in about 10 days. As a topper over kibble, a case lasts a good deal longer.
Storage
Cover and refrigerate any unused portion and use it within a few days. Unopened cans keep best somewhere cool and dry.
