- Does not contain: Beef, pork, turkey, lamb, dairy, peas, lentils, corn, wheat or soy (per the manufacturer's ingredient list).
- More than just chicken. Dried egg product and salmon oil are in the recipe too, which matters for a dog avoiding egg or fish.

Classic Chicken & Rice is about as straightforward as canned food gets... chicken, rice and potatoes, made the way Fromm Family Foods has made food for generations at its family facility in Wisconsin. It's a smooth pâté that's complete on its own or an easy way to make dry food more appealing.
What's actually in it
Chicken and chicken broth come first, then white rice and chicken liver. Dried egg product and salmon oil are the other animal ingredients, and salmon oil adds omega fatty acids, which Fromm includes to support skin and coat.
Potatoes, carrots, dried beet pulp and dried yeast fill out the recipe, with no peas or lentils. Added vitamins, minerals, DL-methionine and choline make it complete and balanced. At 988 kcal/kg it's a moderate-calorie can.
Who it suits, and who it doesn't
It suits an adult dog who does well on chicken, a family that likes a simple grain-inclusive recipe without legumes, and anyone who wants a dependable everyday can. Fromm's AAFCO statement also covers growth, including large breed growth.
It isn't the right can for a dog avoiding chicken, egg, fish or yeast. If you're unsure, our Personal Pet Consultant is happy to help ... call 732-938-4470.

These are starting points, not prescriptions. Fromm notes that puppies, and dogs that are pregnant or nursing, may need two to four times more food, and spayed or neutered dogs may need up to 25% less. If you serve it alongside kibble, cut back on both so the day's total stays about the same. Check your dog's body condition after two or three weeks... ribs easy to feel under a thin layer, a waist visible from above... and adjust. Always keep fresh water out.
Switching over
Change foods gradually over about a week. Start with roughly a quarter Classic Chicken & Rice mixed into the old food, move to half, then three quarters, then all Classic Chicken & Rice. If you're only adding a spoonful as a topper, a slow start still helps. Going slowly gives your dog's stomach time to adjust.
Sizes, and how long a case lasts
Sold as a 12-can case of 13 oz cans. Using Fromm's chart, a 20 lb dog eating 1 1/5 cans a day as its only food would go through a case in about 10 days. As a topper over kibble, a case lasts a good deal longer.
Storage
Cover and refrigerate any unused portion and use it within a few days. Unopened cans keep best somewhere cool and dry.
