Know Before You Buy

Beef Frittata Veg is Fromm's breakfast-inspired Four-Star recipe... beef, eggs, potatoes and a garden's worth of fruits and vegetables, with no grains in the recipe. Fromm Family Foods, the family-owned company in Mequon, Wisconsin, makes it as a hearty, red meat option for dogs who love their beef.
What's actually in it
Beef and beef broth are the first two ingredients, and dried egg product is the third, which is where the "frittata" comes in. Pork shows up in a big way too: pork meat & bone meal, pork, pork fat and pork liver, along with beef liver. Cheese, salmon oil and flaxseed finish the list of fat and protein sources, and salmon oil and flaxseed add omega fatty acids, which Fromm includes to support skin and coat.
Instead of grains, the carbohydrates come from lentils, peas, potatoes, sweet potatoes and chickpeas, with pea protein and pea flour further down. Carrots, apples, broccoli, celery, cranberries and blueberries add variety. Fromm adds a probiotic blend and chicory root extract, which they include to support digestion. At 30% protein and 18% fat minimum it's one of the richer recipes in the Four-Star line.
Who it suits, and who it doesn't
It suits a healthy, active dog of any age who does well on red meat, including a large breed puppy, since Fromm's AAFCO statement covers all life stages and large size growth. It's also a good choice for a family looking for a chicken-free recipe on the ingredient list.

These are starting points, not prescriptions. Fromm notes that puppies, and dogs that are pregnant or nursing, may need two to four times more food, and spayed or neutered dogs may need up to 25% less. Check your dog's body condition after two or three weeks... ribs easy to feel under a thin layer, a waist visible from above... and adjust. Always keep fresh water out.
Switching over
Change foods gradually over about a week. Start with roughly a quarter Beef Frittata Veg mixed into the old food, move to half, then three quarters, then all Beef Frittata Veg. Going slowly gives your dog's stomach time to adjust.
Sizes, and how many cups you get
4 lb, 12 lb and 26 lb bags, which hold roughly 17, 51 and 111 level cups. For a 50 lb active adult eating 2¾ cups a day, that's about a week, about 3 weeks, and about 6 weeks respectively. Cup counts are worked out from Fromm's published calorie figures and are close estimates, since kibble settles as a bag is handled.
Storage
Keep the food in its original bag, rolled down tight, somewhere cool and dry. If you use a bin, put the whole bag inside it rather than pouring the kibble in, so the lot number stays with the food.
